Amy Adele Review

Oh mommas, have I got a find for you! You know my deep love for personalized items. Well, I found a fantastic site that offers all kinds of personalized stationary and adorable t-shirts.

Amy Adele has a huge selection of stationary, invitations and announcements. They also carry labels and stickers for all your kids belongings. The images that they offer are so cute! They all look like very cute hand drawn pictures. And the best part is really their prices. Everything is reasonably priced and free shipping is offered for purchases over $50.00.

Amy Adele very generously allowed me to pick two items from their site to review. Yay! I decided to review a set of address labels and one of their adorable personalized t-shirts.

The ordering process was very easy. You simply pick your design and then add your personalized text. They give you a preview to make sure it lines up how you want it and looks perfect.  For the personalized t-shirt I chose the cute little lady bug. I then added my own text to say "Little Leah Bug." The shirt came out exactly as they showed it on the computer. The colors are bright, the text is a great size and the shirt is nice quality! I am so happy with the t-shirt!

For the address labels, I decided to go with the Richmond Winter House label so that I could use them with my holiday cards. They came out perfect. The text is a good size and very easy to read. Again, the colors came out bright.

I am so pleased with the experience I had with Amy Adele. Easy to order, quick to ship and everything came exactly as I wanted. I highly recommend you check out their site. They have so many wonderful products!

WordGirl: Tricks and Treats DVD Review

WordGirl is an animated series that can be seen on PBS. This series is great because it's not only entertaining, but it's also educational. Each WordGirl episode introduces new vocabulary words that are then reinforced throughout the episode to help children have a better understanding of the words.

WordGirl, also known as Becky Botsford, disguises herself as a 5th grader after crashing her spaceship and finding herself on Earth. Assisted by her sidekick, Captain Huggy Face, she uses her superhero power of knowledge to teach villains important lessons.

Just in time for Halloween, WordGirl has released a new DVD titled WordGirl: Tricks and Treats. This DVD features 8 fabulous WordGirl episodes and runs for about 100 minutes. In all of these Halloween themed episodes your child can experience all new vocabulary while getting excited for the upcoming Holiday. What could be better?

I had a great time watching this DVD with my daughter. She's still a little young to understand the vocabulary (example of words: shimmer and memorize) and concepts behind the show, but I love exposing her to new words! The characters are silly and fun and keep her attention. I think this will be a Halloween favorite for years to come!

You can purchase this DVD for only $14.99 at most major retailers... and of course... from Amazon.com!

The mission of Kidtoons is to provide safe, fun, affordable, family matinees every month.
Do you remember when going to the movies as a family was a regular occurrence? Well, now you have to take out a second mortgage to take a family of 4 or 5 to the movies. Prices have gone up tremendously over the last few years. It is also getting harder and harder to find great movies for kids that will be appropriate and fun. Well Kidtoons is an awesome group that is out to make it easier for a family to enjoy an afternoon at the movies.

This month Kidtoons is bringing Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale to a theater near you.  Simply visit their website to find a theater that is participating in your area. While you are visiting their website there are a few other things I am sure you will want to check out:

How about their promotion to buy one ticket to see Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale and getting a second ticket FREE
They also have coloring sheets and host coloring contests! Your little ones will love that!

Check out the website for all these features and more!

Parents, you can sign up to receive Kidtoons weekly newsletter. This will  give you all the information you need for the movie of the month! You should also be sure to follow Kidtoons on Facebook and twitter for all the latest news and information.  Check it out and enjoy the show!

SuperBaby Book Review

I recently received this book, Superbaby, for review. The book is written by Dr. Jenn Berman is has a subtitle of "12 Ways to Give Your Child a Head Start in the First 3 Years." Does this sound like an intriguing title to you? It did to me.

What I love about this book is that even though my daughter is already 15 months old, there are still so many ideas, suggestions and techniques that Dr. Berman mentions that I can still incorporate. I am a first time mom and I have a lot of questions. I have asked questions as I have gone along. I've asked my mom, my friends, my pediatrician. But there are also so many things I didn't ask, either because I didn't think of it or because I was honestly embarrassed to ask. I mean, I'm a mom, some of this stuff I should know and if I don't I'm not going to admit it. Anyone else been there?

Superbaby covers so many things that help parents to lead their children down a great path for development. From things as simple as providing some hot-line numbers for breast feeding support to tips on how to successfully get through the day without t.v. or what shows will at least be beneficial.

While the book is full of information about a huge variety of things, it's all focused on the same thing. Helping parents make informed decisions and help them understand their child's development. But what I liked most about this book was the way in which it was written. I never felt like Dr. Berman was giving me a "this is the right way" or "this is the only way" attitude. I felt like I was listening to a caring doctor who has a strong background and has some advice. Do we all know the appropriate age to start reading to our children? Much of life as a parent is a guessing game, but isn't it nice to have some guidance?

I think Superbaby is a great resource for new moms. Read the whole thing or keep it on hand for individual situations, Follow it to a T or use it as a guide. To each his own, but I will definitely refer to this book as parenthood hands me more questions.

Judy Bag Company Review and Giveaway

I love finding fabulous talent on Etsy and I love unique items for my daughter. And what could be more unique than personalized items?

The Judy Bag Company offers handmade handbags, purses, wallets, card holders, baby bibs, pacifier clips, aprons, children's clothing and more. Every item can be personalized with monogramming or embroidery. She even gives the option to have items you already own personalized. Judy is also happy to discuss custom orders in order to have exactly what you are looking for.

Judy was kind enough to send me one of her handcrafted items for review. I decided to have a onesie personalized with the letter "L" and then my daughter's name underneath. She had a nice selection of fabrics that would be used as a background for the "L." This was great because I was able to find a print that was perfect for my little girl... who loves pink.

The onesie came out perfect! It was created on a Carter's onesie, which I love because I am familiar with the quality and sizing. Ever stitch is absolutely perfect. The "L" is a nice size to stand out and look great in the center of the onesie. The name underneath is clear and easy to read. I am very pleased with this onesie! You can't buy something like this in stores... it's personal and unique and clearly made with great care.

You should definitely check out the selection of items offered at the Judy Bag Company Etsy Shop!

CSN Stores

I absolutely love one stop shopping and shopping from my couch. I very rarely go to stores anymore, unless I am looking for something I need right away or I am out to browse. Browse... haha, how often does that happen with a 15 month old?

CSN has been and continues to be my first stop for many household items. You may remember that not too long ago I made the leap and purchased some modern bedding from them for our master bedroom. This was quite an event because ever since I found out I was pregnant everything on my purchasing radar was and is for the baby. But it was about time that I treated myself and I purchased a gorgeous comforter set that I have been adoring ever since.
This is the comforter we went with.
Well, now our minds are back on the baby. I feel like I just finished the nursery but my mind is already quickly moving ahead to her big girl room. Sometimes I think I should have been an interior decorator because I could redo a room a week if the hubster allowed. Anyway, with all the positive experiences we've had with CSN we immediately started browsing their bedding selection for the next phase of our little girls life.  They have a great selection of both crib bedding and kids bedding. So this is where I am stuck. Do I jump to a big kid bed or do I take the step in between with the toddler bed? If I do the toddler bed  I could actually redo her room again when we move to the big girl bed. This concept does not thrill my husband but excites me!

So this is where we currently stand... no where. We are debating and browsing and pretty much going no where. But I'm having fun in the process imaging all the possibilities for her room. You should take a look around their selection of bedding. Or, if you're looking for something else you can look around any of the over 200 stores! You can find everything!

Nifty Nappy Cloth Diaper Review and Giveaway

Cloth diapers are a whole different world for me. My daughter is 15 months old and I have been using disposables since she was born. But I have started to become increasingly more interested in cloth diapers in the past few months. I think a lot of it is because I follow several mommy bloggers who do use cloth diapers and have provided a great deal of information on their blogs.

Why did I become interested in cloth diapers? The number one reason is for the health concerns possibly connected with disposable diapers. Namely the presence of Dioxin and Tributyl-tin. Just the names of these toxins alone make me nervous. The potential health risks scare the day lights out of me.

One of the other reasons are that my daughter has had several rather severe diaper rashes. So I was interested in trying cloth to see if the diaper rashes would stop or become less frequent. And thirdly, for our environment. We go through a lot of diapers. I can only imagine what all that waste is doing just hanging out in landfills.

Cost of diapers has also crossed my mind. I have looked at cloth diapers online and see that they are not cheap. But then I played with some numbers and think it would turn out to be cheaper in the long run to do cloth, especially if I had started from the beginning and continued with future children.

All of these things together have led me to give cloth a try. Nifty Nappy was generous enough to support me on this adventure and provide me with one of their adorable fitted cloth diapers. I was drawn to Nifty Nappy during my search because they have some of the cutest prints I've seen, and if I'm going cloth I wanna go cute too!

Nifty Nappy has a great selection of everything you need to venture into the world of cloth diapering. They offer one size cloth diapers, wool covers and reusable swim diapers. I love the idea of the one size fits all cloth diaper! This is exactly what I would want to invest my money in so that they could be used with my daughter and any future younger siblings.

I have been using the fitted cloth diaper with my daughter for the past few weeks. I think it has been hard to get the real experience with only one diaper. It hasn't really changed my laundry, which I know it would if I went all cloth all the time. But what I can tell you is that the diaper itself has been very successful with my daughter. She has not leaked once and can go from lunch through afternoon nap with no problems. I also haven't seen any sign of diaper rash with this breathable diaper. And... it's adorable.

My mind is still up in the air about going cloth with my daughter. I would really love to, but she's already 15 months old. I try and weigh the options and tell myself that the diapers I purchase now could be used with future children, but that's not flying with my husband at the moment. We are continuing to do research and will try and make a decision that will be most beneficial for all of us.  who would have thought it would be such a huge decision? But it really is.

But I have been so pleased with this diaper. Nifty Nappy has been amazing to work with and has offered support and advice through the entire process. They also have lots of great tips on their website for taking care of the diapers and what will be best for your child. Thank you Nifty Nappy for making this such a positive experience! If and when I decide to go the all cloth diaper route I know who to go to!

Never Forget

Please take a moment today to remember all the lives that were lost and all those whose lives changed forever that day. Hug your children a little tighter.... kiss your husband or wife... tell those who are important to you that you love them... and be thankful for all the men and women who sacrifice so much to protect us. I am so thankful for our military, police, fire, emt's and all those who put their lives on the line for me and my family... and my country.

I am proud to be an American and I will NEVER FORGET.
