SKOY Review

So I have decided to do everything I can to go green. I have been researching some easy options, because lets face it... I still need to make my house run. But I am totally open to make some changes that won't totally throw off the organized chaos that I have obtained. (In other words, no I will not be giving up my air conditioning or do one load of laundry a week.)

In the midst of my research I came across SKOY and it looked like a simple enough product to try. It sounds great on paper....
  • 100% Biodegradable
  • Reusable and machine washable
  • Absorbs 15 times its own weight
Sounds good, right? No, not good.... AWESOME! I was so impressed! These things absorb so much water. And you ring them out and they are practically dry. I really was amazed.

SKOY sent me a 4 pack to trial. Each cloth is the equivalent of 15 rolls of paper towels.... 15! So I am already looking at a savings of 60 rolls of paper towels (a 4 pack of SKOY cloths costs $6.99).
I couldn't think of a way to photograph how well these work... so here is a picture just seconds after soaking the SKOY cloth and wringing it out. It didn't even leave a puddle on my counter!

So here is a product that is good for the earth and good for your budget... and it works!

Boogie Wipes Review and Giveaway!!

As you know from my previous post, we recently had to deal with our very first cold. I'm pretty sure that the Boogie Moms knew this and sent my sample of Boogie Wipes at just the right time. In fact, they came the day that I went to the pediatrician. So me being that nervous new mom had to ask the doctor if it was ok for me to use them. He responded with a rather excited "yes, go for it." So I did.

Boogie Wipes are completely medicine free. They are simply like moist towelettes made with saline. Saline is totally safe and can be used as often as you wish. The wipes are very soft and come in three scents (Great Grape, Fresh Scent, Magic Menthol) and Simply Unscented. I tried all three and my favorite was Fresh Scent. It smelled and felt refreshing. I was happy to use it on my little one's nose in place of regular harsh tissues.

My daughter still didn't love having her nose wiped, but I was able to do a much better job in the quick wipe with the Boogie Wipe. Her face was cleaner and her little nose and top lip didn't get red and irritated. I am definitely a Boogie Wipe fan!!

Back to Reality

I always seem to find myself living in a fog as the Holidays approach. I think that's just another perk of being a parent. You get caught up in the "magic" of everything. But now Easter is over and it's back to the real world! But here is one last Easter picture that will hopefully make you smile on this Monday morning.

The next few months will be very busy! Our sweet baby girl will be turning one in May... and I am sure I will get all swept up in that, too! So while planning for that I have also headed up a team in this years Cystic Fibrosis Walk (which happens to fall the weekend before her birthday....overload!). I signed up before reading all the way through the info. I tend to jump into things sometimes! But it's a 10K! Wow... that's a long walk! So I will be practicing everyday so that I can actually make it through the walk. But I am excited to participate! It's my first year doing it and I hope it's the first of many. It's a wonderful cause and I encourage all of you to look into it... and maybe even get your walk on!! Happy Monday!!

Seventh Generation Review and Giveaway!

Before I had my baby I wasn't too concerned with using naturally safe products. I guess I just never really thought about it. Since then I have become much more aware of what I am using around my family. At first I began small and just used naturally safe products on her toys because they were always going in her mouth. But lets face it, she's crawling now so she's all over the place! I knew it was time to change my cleaning products to things that I feel are safe.

I contacted Seventh Generation in the hopes of reviewing one of their many products. They allowed to choose an entire kit! I chose the "Free and Clear Kit" that comes with a great variety of products. I got to try wipes, sprays, dish detergent, laundry detergent and more!

So I went to town cleaning. I was really happy with all of the products. I love that the products don't have strong fumes. The All Purpose Cleaner is a dream because I can just float from room to room and clean the surfaces I need to. I even used it on our sliding glass door and it didn't leave any streaks. I also love the disinfecting wipes! You know me and wipes.

And what I was really excited about was the laundry detergent and fabric softener. I only use free and clear detergent, so that was great. But as a child I was allergic to fabric softener, so I don't use it for myself or my daughter. Now I can! This fabric softener is hypo-allergenic and non-irritable. Yay!

(* Please note: This kit comes with some disinfectant sprays and wipes. The Disinfectants have Thymol scent (from Thyme oil). These are NOT considered free & clear, but they are great for immune-depressed households or those with small children. The scent dissipates quickly)

Free and Clear Kit Includes:
Disinfecting Multi-Surface
Disinfecting Bathroom
Disinfecting Wipes - 35 ct.
Laundry Detergent – F&C 32 oz
Liquid Fabric Softener – F&C 40 oz
Dish liquid
All- Purpose Cleaner
Auto-Dish Pacs
Glass Cleaner
Natural Paper Towels
Seventh Gen Recycled Bag

GIVEAWAY: One lucky reader will receive the same kit I did!
