New Year Resolution
Are people still doing that? I have never really made a serious resolution. This year I would like to. Of course will be so original and choose something that every woman will be attempting... to lose weight. As I had mentioned a few posts back, I did Weight Watchers a couple of years ago and was very successful. This was a big deal for me because I had tried everything prior to that.... Curves, Atkins, joining a gym. I really don't know why one thing worked and others didn't, but I was happy and motivated by the results.
Anyway, I managed to stop going to meetings and continue the program on my own. Which was great for my wallet! So I feel like I can jump into this program again, but I don't know if I can do it without going back to the meetings and weigh-in's at first.
So my plan is to try and change my eating habits and exercise more. Since we are in the dead of winter and I can't get to a gym with a 7 month old, exercising will be done using my Wii. Yay! I will do this until spring sets in and then I will evaluate my progress. At that point I will decide if I need to start going back to the meetings.
I'm also dragging my poor reluctant husband into it! He has never gone to meetings, but he eats what I eat. So he even lost some weight that last time! I have already informed him that he should eat as much as he wants today because tomorrow I will throwing out all the cookies and pie. He is not happy :)
Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2010 is a happy, healthy year for you!!

Infintiy Scarves
LOVE THEM!! Easy, quick, stylish, warm. What more can I say? My sister found these scarves at Target, after attempting to knit one herself. So I picked one up and gave it a try. It dressed up my plain black sweater and made my neck so nice and warm. It's not bulky, some are. Be careful with the size you get and what you want it used for. I use mine as more of an accessory then a scarf, so I wanted a lighter weight one. Really, I can't imagine getting a thicker one because it was so warm! So, now I have two! One in blue and one in pink. They are on clearance at Target this week, so if you want to give them a try you can pick them up for $11. You can find them at a lot of stores, but I like these the best so far!
Where does the time go?
Are you ready for 2010? I'm not. Usually I feel indifferent to the New Year, but this year I'm actually sad to say good-bye to 2009. It was such an incredible year for me. And I already feel like my baby girl is growing up way too fast! The fact that it won't even be the same calendar year that she was born makes me so sad!! I know, I know... I have so much to look forward to in the upcoming year! She will learn to walk, talk, have her first birthday. Ok, maybe I'm a little bit excited.
I'm also feeling nervous about the changes coming in 2010. Most notably me returning to work part-time. As I mentioned in my previous post I will be working 2 days a week. I know, it's not much. But I am already getting so anxious about being away from my baby all day!! Deep breaths!
Well, enough about the future, lets talk about the past! I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday! We most certainly did! For the baby's First Christmas Santa got her a 25th Anniversary Cabbage Patch Kid! Ok, so I was born the year Cabbage Patch Kids came out. They were HUGE when I was little and almost impossible to find. So my husband and I both still have our original Kids. I wanted to make sure that my little girl had one too! So last year they celebrated their 25th Anniversary and you could get the original dolls! Awesome! So I ordered directly from their website, as I couldn't find them anywhere else (at least not for a reasonable price). If you want one for your child... get it now!

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho It's Off to Work I Go!
I feel as though I have just gotten settled in the "stay-at-home-mom world". I feel like a very comfortable resident and had no plans of moving on. But sometimes, life happens when you're not even looking.
This week I was presented with a great offer to work part-time. It would only be 2 days a week and 8 hours a day. This seems like not much, but for a mommy who hasn't left her baby's side for more than a couple hours... this is a BIG DEAL. I'm torn because I know this is a great opportunity to make some money but still have my focus on my baby. At the same time... I don't want to leave her!!
Really, it will be for the best. I can make a little extra money that can be saved for a fun family vacation. And my sweetie will be taken care of by Grandma. It's a pretty good deal. It will just take some mental preparation. I know it will be hard to be away for so many hours in a row, but I have a 5 day weekend every weekend!
My poor husband. He will have to deal with the tears for days before I start working!!

The Things I Study....
What have I been studying lately? Poop. Plain and simple I have spent my time examining, researching and discussing poop. We have recently moved into the new world of solid food. I knew this adventure would bring a change in the diaper department because what goes in must come out!
I guess what I didn't realize would be how frightening this change would be. You get so accustomed to your child's "normal" diaper deal, so when there is a relatively drastic change you feel that this cannot be right. And now we are in limbo. A different color, different consistency, fluctuating frequency day by day. Sheesh! Cut a new mom a break!
All I can say is... thank goodness for after hours pediatrician numbers and Google. If I couldn't look at pictures of other people's kids poop I don't know how I would get through the night! Yes, I really just said that... and you know you've done it too!

Priorities
This Christmas Season has really started to put things into perspective. The last few years my priorities have been way out of whack. During previous Christmas seasons my number one goal was to get everyone (especially the hubby) everything they wished for. Wow, I am way up there in the "it's the thought that counts" competition. But what was bad was that I did get everything they wished for....which resulted in spending WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!
Well this year we are looking at the Holidays from a one income point of view. The best gift I ever could have asked for was the ability to be home with my baby. Therefore, I have no Christmas list this year. It was actually difficult to make a short list because I feel so complete. I DON'T NEED ANYTHING! That's really a first for me. I was always the kid up at 5 a.m. itching to rip open that paper. Now, don't get me wrong. I still get giddy inside when I see the pretty paper under the tree. But I would be completely content if it was all filled with baby food and diapers. Everything that I want to wish for this year is for my baby. My mind is in a totally new place and I like it!

Whoops!
A month? Really... I've been gone for a month? Wow, my apologies! I just get this up and running and I abandon my readers for a solid month! Well, while I don't feel it excuses me I am dealing with BABY'S FIRST CHRISTMAS!!!
Yes, this monumental event has taken over my existence. My house has been transformed into the North Pole. I kid you not, every room has at least something Christmas related in it... down to the pine scented hand soap in the guest bath. It's so true that the Holidays take on a whole new meaning when you have children.
Aside from decking the halls at home, we have also been trying to get some of the traditional experiences done with our little girl. This has been hard to do with my serious fear of Swine Flu and every other germ related illness! I would put my baby in a bubble if I could! But we did venture out to Santa Land. The experience was....memorable. For all those who say our baby never cries...bring Santa into the picture. She's not so jolly around the big guy.
While Christmas is less than two weeks away... and I am hosting two major family events at our house.... I will do my best to get back on my blogging feet! Happy Holidays!
