Since my daughter's birthday theme was cupcakes they designed a fabulous cupcake onesie in her colors. I fell in love with the onesie and bow immediately... so much so that my daughter wore them in her professional first birthday portraits!

The onesie is made of high quality material. It's not thin or too light weight, it's very nice and soft. The cupcake design is just too cute. It's the perfect size and color combination. The hair bow matched perfectly! What I love most of the hair bow is that it's a clip on a headband, so I can use it either way! My daughter wore the headband all day at her party without it slipping off once. Great quality!!

It's Friday! Yay!

Friday is finally here! This week is kind of like a blur. It feels like my daughter's birthday was weeks ago... but it was on Monday! I think the week went screwy for me on Wednesday because I had jury duty. It seemed like time stopped while I was in that court house. So I am defintitely ready for the long weekend!!

Do you have any fun plans for Memorial Day weekend? My parents live on a lake so we are going to head over there for a BBQ and some water fun! Then we are hoping to be able to set up "baby beach" at home on either Sunday or Monday. The weather is supposed to be great!! So we'll break out the baby pool and beach chairs and just relax! We don't do that often enough!!

I adore unique baby items! On so many occasions moms have told me that their daughter has the same onesie or is actually wearing the exact same outfit. Something about that is just upsetting to me. That's one of the reasons that I love the marvelous artists/designers from Etsy. No matter what you are looking for you can find it at Etsy. And you can pretty much be guaranteed that no other kid on the playground is wearing it too!

Bully Design is exactly the kind of Etsy shop that I love! They make adorable hand screen printed baby clothing in designs that you won't find just anywhere!

When I was browsing through the selection offered at Bully Design I fell in love with the "Happy Hour" onesie. I think it's hysterical! Once the warm weather hits our neighborhood is known for meeting outside with snacks and drinks and having a good old fashioned Happy Hour! When I showed up with my daughter in this onesie it was a hit!! All the other moms were asking where I got it. I have washed the onesie several times and the print is just like new!

My Birthday Girl!!

Today my sweet little girl is ONE YEAR OLD!! This has been the fastest and most exciting year of my life. I never knew how much you could love someone... how much you could worry about someone... and how fast someone could change. I have learned more about myself and my husband in this one year than in my 27 years of life or 4 years of marriage.

We had her big birthday bash on Saturday. The cupcake theme went over great! My baking skills were put to the test and I think they passed. Minus the mishap on Friday night where the giant cupcake cake crumbled and I was up until 11 pm making a new one.... but we won't tell anyone about that. But other than that everything went smoothly!

How did the cake go? Well..... she cried. Haha! My always happy and smiley girl couldn't handle the 40 people singing at her. But she was adorable anyway. She loved the cupcake but her Daddy had to hold her and feed it to her.... he makes her feel safe :)

While we may be past many of the "firsts" we have lots more exciting things to experience with our sweet little girl!! It's a bittersweet time.... yes, I cried over this occasion.... but I am excited to see all that the future holds for us!!

I love how unique this product is. So many moms were asking where I got it and commenting on how cute it was. It's so much better than using the paper hats, and it lasts forever as a toy. This will be a special keepsake for her to remember her first birthday!

I have fallen in love with a lot of different styles and fabrics from her shop. Each item is handcrafted and of amazing quality. And everything is so unique!

My baby is always cute. Aren't they all? But when I put this Pillowcase Dress, by Corinna Couture, on her I was just amazed at how adorable she looked! Something about it was just so perfect. It may be the way it falls... or the colors of the fabric. I really can't put my finger exactly on it... but I'm in love. I LOVE THIS DRESS!

Fun to Be One!

I can't even believe that my baby girl is turning one on Monday! We are having her birthday party on Saturday and I have been in pure party planning mode for months. So what do I have planned?

It's going to be a backyard party.... fingers crossed for good weather! We usually BBQ, but I really want to enjoy this party so we decided to have it catered.

It's going to be a cupcake theme and all in pink and purple. So I baked 54 cupcakes that will be displayed in cupcake stands and a GIANT cupcake that really has no function but pictures.... so I guess I'll eat it :) And I also made sugar cookies that I painted with frosting to have pink and purple tops. Then I wrote her name on some and then number one on others with icing pens.

I painted flower pots white with pink polka dots and a pink rim. Then on the rim I wrote "It's Fun to Be One." There will be purple flowers in these.

I made a slide show of pictures set to music. It covers all the major events of her first year and makes me cry every time I watch it! This was really fun to make and I mailed a copy to my grandparents who couldn't travel to the party.

The gift table will have her first birthday portrait along with the scrapbook that I made for her.

So this is the party in a nut shell. I will be sure to post pictures after the big event is over!

Tot Talk DVD Review

Tot Talk sent me one of their DVD's, Adventures in France, to review. The age on the DVD is 6+ months so my one year old daughter was at just the right age. From the moment the music started she was mesmerized.

Some of the things that I love about this DVD:
I love that there is music throughout the DVD. I have found that my daughter loves music, so this helped keep her interested.

The puppets are adorable, but they also have real babies and children throughout. I think this is important in order for children to make connections. Especially since the children in the DVD are demonstrating daily life skills, like putting on shoes.

When doing some vocabulary I think it's great that they show the picture and the word while also saying it verbally. It reaches all learners this way and reinforces the meaning of the word.

I love that they offer the option to play the DVD in French. Exposing children to a different language at a young age can be very beneficial for their ability to pick up other languages.

Overall I found this DVD to be very educational. It exposes your children to different aspects of the world that they don't see on a daily basis. It was like taking a little tour of France with the food, music and scenery being portrayed throughout. 


It's definitely worth your time to go check out their website. Aside from Adventures in France they also offer another DVD for slightly older children. You can also check out their CD's and place mats!

What I love so much about their selection is that their pieces are very stylish but in such a way that doesn't take away the sweetness and innocence of little girls. This company doesn't try and rush little girls into dressing too old for their age. Perhaps the designs are so well done because the company was started by two moms. I was sent this amazing vibrant skirt and top for review. Unfortunately my daughter has a little growing to fit into their line (which starts at size 2), so I didn't have a model. The neckline on this top is just to cool. It's simple yet detailed.

And just look at how this skirt hangs. Just beautiful!

I think that when my daughter reaches this size I will still be able to put her in it and she will look fabulous because of the simplicity behind the design. Today We Made Great Strides!!

CSN - Comforter Review

You might remember that a couple of weeks ago I mentioned that CSN had given me a discount to purchase an item for review. I had decided it was time to spoil myself and get a new comforter for my bedroom!

The comforter came much faster than I expected! It arrived in just a few days and I was so excited to put it on my bed to see how it looked. You always get nervous when you buy something like that online because you never know how the colors will look when you put it in the room. Well, the picture on the CSN website was spot on and it looked just the way I imagined!

The quality of the comforter is fabulous! It is a nice weight... not too heavy but certainly not too light. And the colors are vibrant! The design in the center has a velvet texture. I'm very happy with the choice we made!

As I mentioned in my previous post, we have ordered from CSN stores on several occasions and we have never been disappointed. They carry products that are of great quality, and they have such a wide selection that you can find everything you're looking for!

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil Review

I'm a little hesitant to admit this because I'm not sure how many people would agree with me, but I had never heard of coconut oil before I learned about Tropical Traditions. When I came across their website I was very interested to learn more about the possibility of replacing other oils in my life.

I am always looking for things that will make my life better and healthier without really "changing" my life. I am pretty set in my cooking style at this point. While I would love to expand my skills and make new things... I just don't have time! I have my list of things I can make with my eyes closed and that's what I make. And a lot of that is stuff that's cooked in oil. I bread chicken in oil.... I make french fries... veggies for pasta... everything cooks in oil.

So when I learned that I could continue to cook the way I do and eliminate a lot of the icky stuff from regular vegetable oils I was excited. Then my husband commented when it arrived that it might taste funny... or coco-nutty. But we went ahead and gave it a try. The food tasted great! It was almost as if everything tasted lighter. It's hard to explain, but we felt good after eating. We didn't feel greasy or heavy. That's never a good way to feel!

I've slowly been incorporating the coconut oil into more of my recipes and have been very pleased. Now that I'm getting over my hesitations I'm excited to see what else I can use it for!!

I don't know about everyone else, but for me this week has been exceptionally long! I was so happy to wake up this morning knowing the weekend is only a few hours away! This weekend I am doing my 6 mile walk for Cystic Fibrosis!! Wish me luck!! Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!
